Hammacher Schlemmer’s Levitating Hover Scooter

Yeah, they did it again, it’s another one of Hammacher Schlemmer’s unexpected offerings with an unexpected price tag of $16,999.95  After Floating UFO Puck and Air Hovering Canister Vacuum they have come up with yet another flying machine, the Levitating Hover Scooter. This UFO-flying-saucer like looking mini hovercraft is five feet in diameter and flies only on solid ground. It’s capable of 15 mph and runs for about an hour on a full tank of unleaded gas. If you have done some skiing you know how to ride this flying saucer, just lean to your right or left. To accelerate lean forward and to brake you’ll have to coast for about 20 feet.

Lamborghini SUV plans are confirmed

The latest SUV craze is already happening. When Porsche made it’s Cayenne and was turned into a success, now Lamborghini has planned to emulate the success with a luxury SUV of it’s own. For those who didn’t know, Lamborghini originally started building tractors under the successful company of Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A. Hence they do have knowledge about offroad and its works.

The current Lamborghini president Stephan Winklemann announced the Lamborghini SUV project, which would most likely be based on the Audi’s Q7 (which has common similarities to the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg) or the Audi Q5. Lamborghini could use the 5.2 litre V10 from its Audi S8 stable (a derrirative from the Lamborghini Gallardo 5.0 V10), since it’s been tweaker for high torque output, instead of max horsepower. Expect this magnificient SUV soon

Samsuing SCH-V8200 8 megapixel camera phone

Since the creation of cellphone with camera and/or video cam capabilities, most people have travelled lighter. Nowadays most cellphones are becoming more and more mobile. They may one day replace PDAs, forcing PDA makers to either join the bandwagon of including the calling features or face certain death.

With Samsung’s latest creation, the Samsung SCH-V8200 would eliminate the need to carry both a camera and a cellphone. However, the lack of optical zoom at the moment would set it apart for now. It would probably be most certain that this would be what the phones in the future be capable of. The phone would be expected to hit the market in Korea within the next six weeks. Definately a good phone to consider.

Panasonic DMC-FZ7 6.0 megapixel camera

Panasonic has launched its new Panasonic Lumix DMC-F27 with 6.0 megapixel Mega OIS (optical image stabilization), 12x optical zoom, 2.5 inch LCD display. Followers of the Panasonic Lumix range would love to get hold of this new gadget. Expect it to be in stores in March at $399.

Envious Illuminated Shot Glasses

Do you love drinking? Then look no further to the Envious Illuminated Shot Glasses. For only $9.99 from, they would illuminate your mood for a couple of drinks. The inventor has already donated some of these shot glasses to a fundraising event held by Forbes to raise money for Katrina relief.

The shot glasses are made of frosted glass and there is a LED that is held in a small base, which also holds a battery capable of 3,000 uses or about 35 gallons of liquor. Once the shot glass is tapped, the shot glass lights up for six seconds.

This would be excellent addition to your liquor collection, consider buying it.

A Microsoft Handheld?

Well no one knows for sure as yet, but the rumor has been around for the last two-three days now and everyone seems to be buying it. So, I decided to investigate myself. A little Googling tells me that the rumors are split on competitor device for PSP/iPod. According to some sites, Microsoft is considering the possibilities of a portable Xbox while others report that, Microsoft is planning a portable mp3 player, an iPod competitor.

While Microsoft has neither confirmed nor rejected either of the two rumors and called them “mere speculations”, Microsoft may have plans for an iPod like gadget. Yeah, that, rumor or not, can’t be rejected as Microsoft has started pushing MSN Music Service as a strong competitor to Apple’s iTunes Media store. Stay tuned to Slash Gear for updates.

Edirol rolls out R-09 a new portable sound recorder

Edirol has rolled out its new R-09 featuring 24 bit uncompressed recording with an integrated microphone, introduced last week, I would call this gadget a welcome addition to the sea of iPods. The R-09 sports one of the most user friendly control panel among contemporary gadgets I’ve noted. It records stereo quality audio in MP3 format. You can check the recorded audio through the headphone jack or export files to a PC through USB. It’s the complete package for all your recording needs on the move.

Transparent OLED

Researchers in the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany are working on the next generation of OLED technology, where it can be completely transparent and be turned on and off at anytime. This OLED technology would be really good in assisting the display of specific information. This allows OLED to display information as needed and turn off when not in use, without interfering with the main picture and automobile windshields with built-in displays. This would be most certain to be replacing the current LCD technology as OLED’s are much better than LCDs in terms of longetivity.

Altec Lansing MX5021-THX 2.1 Speaker System

If you are into quality speakers without looking deep into your pockets, look no further. Altec Lansing has just released the latest MX5021-THX 2.1 Speaker System. If you don’t know what the fuss is about THX, it’s a sound qualifying standard developed by well known Star Wars director, George Lucas. He’s a fuzzy guy to sound, so if something is THX certified, it means its pretty good! The MX5021 speaker system gives out 90 Watts RMS of sound power, with the sub-woofer rated at 50Watts and the satellite speakers 20Watts each. The satellites are magnetically shielded, however the subwoofer is not. It’s highly unlikely that you would put a subwoofer close to a CRT monitor anyways. So, this is definately a good buy.

Chevrolet Captiva

Chevrolet recently unveiled its first compact SUV with diesel options in the Geneva Motor Show. The Captiva is based on the Chevrolet/Daewoo S3X concept. The Chevrolet Captiva comes with 3 engine options, a 2.4 liter inline-4 DOHC (142hp@5200rpm, 220Nm@4000rpm) and a 3.2 liter V6 (225hp@6000rpm, 302Nm@3500rpm). The Captiva also has a turbodiesel model, a 2.0 liter 150hp common-rail direct injection turbodiesel sourced from Daewoo. This is definately a good move to have diesel engines, because gas prices are increasing badly due to the current oil crisis.

Prodrive P2

Prodrive is a car tuner for most Subaru cars. However, Subaru’s didn’t had 2-door and 2-seater boxer-engined cars, so Prodrive made one. The Prodrive P2 uses a Subaru flat four engine, tuned by Prodrive. This would be perfect for thos e who loves Subaru’s boxer engine, but wants it in a proper sports car. The Prodrive P2 has a good amount of power figures of 349PS and 575Nm of torque from its 2 litre DOHC boxer engine. This car is considerably light at 1100kg, thus this would give a good sports car feeling.
