GOG Galaxy goes out of beta, adds cloud saving

GOG Galaxy goes out of beta, adds cloud saving

When it comes to digital distribution of PC games, Steam is undoubtedly the most well-known name, though some, like EA, have their own stores and distribution systems. Steam, however, is hardly the only game in town, especially when it comes to older titles. That's where GOG, formerly "Good Old Games", comes in. With GOG Galaxy, however, it is becoming more like Steam but with one important caveat: the user is still in (almost) complete control of everything.

Square Enix brings back the Surprise Box in time for Spring

Square Enix brings back the Surprise Box in time for Spring

Subscription boxes have become quite the fad but not everyone actually wants random physical trinkets that pile up. Some, like gamers, prefer to go digital. Square Enix once had such an offering that blended the random whimsical fun of subscription boxes with its digital titles and now that “box” is making a comeback. The Square Enix Surprise Box has returned to keep you occupied this Spring season. Presuming, of course, you get lucky and don’t own any of the surprise games already.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends card game lands on PCs, mobile soon

The Elder Scrolls: Legends card game lands on PCs, mobile soon

Well-seasoned gamers will probably remember The Elder Scrolls, particularly Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, as first person fantasy RPGs. Getting with the times, however, TES, as it is fondly known, has branched out to other types as well, first with a still-running MMORPG and, now, a digital card game. In the same vein as Hearthstone, which is set in the world of Warcraft, Legends brings the lore, creatures, and unique flavor of the Elder Scrolls to a less adrenaline-rushing battle of wits on the PC and, soon, on tablets, Macs, and phones.

PC gamers can get a remastered version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD via Steam starting on May 12, which is this Thursday for those who don't have a calendar handy. PC gamers aren’t the first folks to get hands on this franchise typically.

Steam finally lets you permanently delete games from your library

Steam finally lets you permanently delete games from your library

Valve's Steam has turned into a behemoth of a digital marketplace for PC games, selling just about any title that sees release today. That means some gamers have amassed huge collections, including games they may never play again, or never really wanted in the first place, whether they were bundle extras or redeemed gifts. Unfortunately, Steam has never really made it an option to delete a game from a user's library. Until today.

PC gamers be warned: Dragon Quest Heroes coming to Steam

PC gamers be warned: Dragon Quest Heroes coming to Steam

That may sound a bit ominous and that would be partly correct, considering how many hours might be sacrificed and lost to this title. For the first time in known gaming history, a Dragon Quest game will be made available on the Steam distribution platform. OK, it might not be exactly like a true fledged Dragon Quest game, but the ridiculously named "Dragon Quest Heroes The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below" will be as recent a DQ title as you can get, and now it's heading over to the PC as well.

Batman: Arkham Knight PC re-release set for October 28

Batman: Arkham Knight PC re-release set for October 28

Batman: Arkham Knight has become one of the most notable titles in the Arkham line, not because of how great it was, though it probably is to some, but because of how the PC version of the game was so horribly broken that Warner Bros Interactive pulled the game off shelves indefinitely. That was back in June and though a final fix for the PC port has been promised, no date was given. Well, now WB is giving a date. On 28th October, at exactly 10 a.m. PDT, Batman: Arkham Knight will finally be playable on the PC. Hopefully.

Prey for the Gods looks like Shadow of the Colossus, for PC and Mac

When Shadow of the Colossus debuted in 2005, it turned a lot of heads. The game's minimalist landscapes and immersive gameplay have been identified by many who argue that video games are truly a form of art. Plus, who doesn't love scaling gigantic beings and bringing them to their knees? Well, the guys at No Matter Studios have taken some obvious cues from Team Ico, and released a trailer for their upcoming game, Prey for the Gods.

Need for Speed PC delayed to 2016 to add unlocked framerates

2016 is the new 2015. At least for the upcoming new Need for Speed game's PC version. EA Games and developer Ghost have taken to the game's website to announce a sort of good news, bad news kind of deal. The PC version of the hit PC game won't be coming until Spring 2016, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions are still on track for November. The unfortunate delay, however, is necessary to implement what is apparently a most requested feature: unlocked frame rates for the PC version.

Batman: Arkham Knight PC patch just a few weeks away

Remember Batman: Arkham Knight? Know about the PC version? Unless you're one of those bitten by the horrible launch that should never have been, you're unlikely to know about it since it was pulled from the shelves. Hope, however, might be springing eternal. WB Games community manager braved the angry mob to announce that, if all goes well, the much awaited patch to fix the PC version of the game will be coming in the next few weeks. That is, if all goes well, of course.

KOTOR II gets patched after 10 years to support Mac, Linux

Joining the train of Star Wars-related games and media preparing the way for Episode VII later this year, PC RPG Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords received a massive patch. It's OK if you haven't heard of the game recently or at all, unless you've already been playing games or have been immersed in the Star Wars universe the last 10 years or so. The game was released back in 2005, making this its first ever patch in a decade. And it's a monumental one at that, bringing the game forward and to two new platforms.

Sources say WB knew Arkham Knight PC was horribly broken

Sources say WB knew Arkham Knight PC was horribly broken

The launch of Batman: Arkham Knight was a disaster, at least for PC owners. Now it might be even more of a PR disaster for publisher Warner Bros. Although the company issued an apology to owners and fans after pulling the game out of sales, it seems it might just be a well-worded cover up. Numerous sources, including the games' testers, are now saying that Warner Bros. was fully aware of the issues that the PC version faced, but decided to ship it at the same time anyway.
