Domestic Automotive Repair, Classic Arcade Games, All Things Xbox
- Russell went from minimal auto repair experience learned from his dad to becoming the top technician at his first job in the industry. He didn't even have a license when he started training at Lincoln Tech.
- On a challenge from his wife, Russell put enough time into Mortal Kombat 11 on Xbox to justify the couple planning a trip to 2020's EVO tournament... right before the pandemic shut that dream down.
- As a fan obsessed with classic arcade gaming, Russell makes a point to visit America's largest arcade, Galloping Ghost, every time he returns to his hometown in Illinois.
Experience
After 10 years working in an animal hospital, Russell was inspired to get into automotive repair. He signed up for automotive repair training and was in the business for over sixteen years. Three shops and several certifications later, a shoulder injury and general disinterest in new shop ownership led him down the path of freelance writing. He started a personal blog about pro wrestling and used that to gain a foothold in the industry. He's been published at SlashGear, Wrestling, Inc., Goombastomp.com, and Tilt Magazine.
Education
The degree program at Lincoln Technical Institute, earned while changing oil at the local Jiffy Lube, was the beginning of Russell's nearly two decades of repair experience. Learning to be a better blogger and writer is an ongoing pursuit.
