It looks like Sony is gearing up to give Microsoft Surface a run for its money with a new tablet hybrid of its own. The leaked pics you see below come courtesy of an unnamed PocketNow source, and appear to depict a new Sony convertible tablet running Windows 8. While there aren't too many details at the moment, the pictures do give away some hints as to what this tablet hybrid could be.
Sony has refreshed its entire lineup of VAIO computers following Intel's official launch of Ivy Bridge laptop processors last week. Besides the new VAIO T13 Ultrabook being announced with Ivy Bridge today, Sony has gone ahead and refreshed the VAIO S, E, and luxury Z series as well as its L series all-in-one desktop.
More and more laptops are getting updated with some juicy Intel Ivy Bridge internals, and Sony is the latest company is roll out refreshed lines. Both the VAIO S and Z series will receive updates, which includes faster processors and graphics cards. The S series is available in 13 and 15-inch sizes, with the latter offering a 1080p IPS screen option and a hefty 1TB of storage space.
Sony has officially revealed its first ultrabooks, the Sony VAIO T11 and T13, with a choice of 11.6- or 13.3-inch displays, slick magnesium and aluminum chassis, and optional SSD storage. Promising up to nine hours battery life from the SSD models, the new T11 and T13 VAIOs include full-sized VGA, HDMI and ethernet ports, along with memory card readers and both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports.
Sony has outed a new universal media tuner and recorder, the Sony nasne, intended for use across its PS3, VAIO computer and smartphone/tablet ranges, and the first step in the newly-harmonized "One Sony" business. A PS3-lookalike with digital terrestrial and satellite tuners along with a 500GB hard-drive for recording shows, nasne will allow Sony tablets, phones or other gadgets to access its recordings across the network, as well as being able to stream live video to up to two devices at once.
Sony has outed its latest 14-inch notebook, the VAIO E Series 14P, not quite an ultrabook but not letting that stop it offer gesture control and 7hr runtime. Measuring in at 22.4mm thick, the 1366 x 768 notebook runs Intel's Core i3-2350M processor paired with 4GB of DDR3 memory and AMD Radeon HD 7670M graphics with 1GB of dedicated VRAM, and comes in black, white or pink.
Sony's flagship Chrome OS-powered computer has just been given the green light by the Federal Communications Commission. This means as far as the regulatory paperwork goes, the device is ready to go on sale in the US, and obviously Sony wouldn't have submitted it to the FCC unless it was essentially ready for production. So hopefully we'll start seeing it on store shelves soon.
The next generation of Vaio S-series laptops from Sony has arrived and we're taking a look the the most basic model here today - the 13.3-inch with Intel Core i5 processor inside, matte black. This ultraportable laptop comes with the standard f-series keyboard, a switch which allows you to switch between Discreet graphics and AMD, the ability to keep working as long as possible with the former option or to be ultra productive with apps such as Photoshop with the latter. We're going to take a look at if this beast is worth the $779.99 it costs for its least expensive configuration - let's see!
The modified laptop you're about to witness is one that's unique, but works with a device that most certainly is not - made by modder John Dunn for Sony running a Vaio F notebook under a fabulous amalgamation of wood and brass. What you've for here is a sort of casing for the notebook made of birch plywood, pine wood, brass, and copper. All of these materials are true to the "Steampunk" style, if you're familiar, and the laptop is fully functional.
In an announcement that's got some lovely holiday bells attached to it, VAIO today let loose some words on its expanding line of notebook computers. Where earlier this year the VAIO SA 13.3-inch screen size-having member of the VAIO S series, now there's a 15.5-inch model called the VAIO SE. In addition to a larger screen size and a dedicated 10-key, the entire piece of hardware is less than 1-inch thick, the VAIO SE has AMD Radeon Hybrid Graphics (up to 1GB VRAM) as well as a cool sheet battery that'll "double" your battery life. In addition to this, a software update comes to VAIO F and VAIO L desktops.

We got our first official glimpse of the Sony VAIO Z Series back on June 28th, a look that revealed this to be Sony's lightest and most portable effort to date. This 13.1-inch 1600 x 900 notebook runs up to a Core i7-2620M 2.7GHz and weighs just under 1.2kg, all of this available for around $2,286 on pre-order, this magnificent laptop will be hitting doorsteps starting this week! What Sony has for us now is no less than a VAIO Z series laptop torn down and put back together before our eyes by an official Sony engineer!
