iPad 2 Advertised at BestBuy, Walmart

As we suspected when the original iPad was pulled from Best Buy's inventory on Tuesday, the iPad 2 (and its nifty cover) will be available in the store on Friday, March 11. One would suspect then, that Best Buy will begin selling the iPad 2 at 5pm on March 11, just like at Apple Stores. The graphic below is what is shown on Best Buy's website.

First Gen iPad Pulled from Best Buy Inventory

In further evidence that an iPad 2 launch is imminent, Best Buy has deleted the first generation iPad from its inventory. Best Buy's inventory status is not always a good indicator of product launches, but combined with the news yesterday that Apple had cut off iPad supply in preparation for an iPad 2 announcement, this seems to be yet another indication that the iPad 2 will be announced at Apple's event tomorrow.

Motorola Xoom $1200 Best Buy Pre-Order Page Pulled

Best Buy had published an ad on their site for taking pre-orders on the Motorola Xoom listing it at $1200. The program is pretty much what it sounds like--Best Buy stores will buy back products from their customers. The catch is that there's a cost to it almost like when you pay extra for that 3-year warranty. The first time we saw Steve Jobs pull the iPhone 4 out of his pocket we were supposed to be able to get the smartphone in black or white colors just as we have for a while now with the iPhone 3GS. As it turned out the process used to paint the iPhone 4 white had some issues and we still don’t have the smartphone in white (at least not officially) today.
