Essential Phone Headphone Jack: Now an Adapter

Essential Phone Headphone Jack: Now an Adapter

This week the folks at Essential decided to go the dongle route when it came to a headphone jack for PH-1. Their device already had the ability to administer sound through its USB-C port, but barring that or Bluetooth, there was no traditional way to plug in and jam. Now, with the Audio Adapter HD, there's a headphone jack again. It connects through the pogo-pins at the back of the PH-1 phone.

Spotify just pulled further ahead of Apple, Tidal, and Pandora too

There's little Spotify has to catch up on when it comes to streaming music. They've got a whole lot of the market cornered for several reasons - not least of these because they've been in the business the longest. Spotify's most recent update - today - should serve to move the streaming music service even further out ahead of the competition.

This Hifi mobile music device seems too good to be true

There's a Hifi music player called HiBy R3 out in the wild this week, and it's made for Tidal alone. This is a mobile music player made by the folks at HiBy Music. It has a touchscreen and connects to Wi-Fi to play music specifically and solely through Tidal. It's not made by Tidal, but it works with its own version of the Tidal app - and that's it. This is the specificity you've been waiting for.

Best music app this week: Tidal (it’s free)

Your brand new Christmas iPhone or Galaxy S8 or Android of any sort is about to get a bit happier. While I don't recommend any music service above any other, normally, due to my inability to tell the lot apart, today I'm reporting on a rare sort of situation with the service called Tidal. The Tidal crew have decided to make their service entirely free for all users from Christmas day (earlier this week) until the 5th of January.

Jay-Z 4:44 album downloads released to Apple, Amazon, soon Best Buy

Today the Jay-Z album 4:44 was made available on platforms outside of Tidal. This album was originally released on June 30th, 2017 on Tidal exclusively. It was immediately streamed by iHeartRadio for a full day with talking breaks, and was given away in a promotion with Sprint. Promotions such as these make us recall his deal with Samsung to give his Magna Carta Holy Grail album away with a rare deal that resulted in the album being "sold" 1-million times before going on sale in the retail space.

Tidal loses third CEO, now looking for fourth within two years

It seems that streaming music service Tidal is continuing to flounder, as the news has surfaced that it has lost yet another CEO. Jeff Toig has been gone from the company since March reports Billboard, and it means that Tidal is now looking for its fourth CEO in a period of only two years. This comes after recent troubles including the failure to find a buyer and claims that it's been exaggerating its subscriber numbers, as well as the firing of its CFO and COO early last year.
