Paramount puts up 100+ films YouTube, streaming for free

While video streaming is the hot thing these days, not all studios, especially the big ones, are always keen on following the trend. Perhaps more than anything, they fear the likelihood of increased piracy. So when Paramount Pictures makes puts more than a hundred films up on YouTube and makes them available absolutely for free, you might think it's some late/early April Fools' prank. And yet that is exactly what the studio did on its verified The Paramount Vault, giving free access dozens of content on the world's largest video streaming service.

This morning it's become apparent that SDCC isn't the place to be for three of the world's biggest names in comic book-based entertainment. Marvel, Sony, and Paramount Pictures have all confirmed that they will not be making presentations at San Diego Comic Con 2015. While it's not unheard of that one of these three might not show, it's unprecedented that the entire trio won't be revealing news at the world's biggest comic event. In early March, Paramount revealed that there would be a Zoolander 2 movie in a wonderful way — by having Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller take to the floor at the Paris Fashion Week show in full character garb. The movie won’t be arriving until February 12 of next year, but we’ve been slowly hearing bits and pieces about what we can expect. This week the newest bit of information surfaced this week in the form of a picture fired off on Instagram: Justin Bieber has joined the cast.

Tubi TV scores load of movies in Paramount deal

Cord cutters have another relatively little-known entertainment option with Tubi TV ("tubitv"), a service that has recently expanded by striking a deal with Paramount Pictures. Under the deal, Tubi has scored 50 of the company's older movies that are being provided for streaming for free, included among them being Top Gun. Tubi TV works in a way similar to Crackle, in that content is free but supported by advertisements that pepper the content. Tubi TV launched last year, and boasts a large library of content.
