Google Wallet “Single Tap” Demoed on Point-of-Sale System

Credit Card, Coupon, and Reward Coupon. These are the three items that are thus far available in the Google Wallet system that you'll be able to use when checking in at stores, purchasing items like what Google showed off at the May 26th event in NYC, a pair of shorts from American Eagle. The system was further detailed from start to finish: look up the shorts at home, find a coupon, transfer the coupon to your phone the same way you'd transfer an app via the Android Market, and bring the phone to the store to tap. All you've got to do is sign!

The steps for Google Wallet setup are thus, says Google on May the 26th in New York: Attach your Wallet, Enter your Pin, Add your Credit Card, and lock. Quite simple. This service will work between Citi bank, FirstData for management, and you with your personal information. Your information will be secured and available to you instantly in your "wallet." Once your card is in your wallet, you can choose to active or de-activate your card on demand. In addition to your credit card, you've got an instant Google card [GCard] which you can add funds to separately. AKA you can add funds how you want, no matter how confident you are in the security.

Google Wallet and Google Offers Partner with Citibank, Mastercard, First Data, and Sprint

In an event in NYC on May 26th 2011, Google announced their vision for the future in NFC. They noted that they'd be investing in technologies and platforms that would change people's lives in commerce. This program started with Google Wallet and went on to work with Google Offers. "Your phone becomes your wallet" is what their first tagline will be, this being the selling point of Google Wallet. This program will work via the NFC chip already installed in Google's latest hero phone the Nexus S and the Nexus S 4G.

Google Wallet NFC Payment System Launches Tomorrow

Our pals over at This is My Next have received word via The Container Store that Google Wallet will be the announcement coming up tomorrow in New York, and that it will very likely be the NFC announcement we've been guessing at. This event will be announcing a "contactless" payment system via payment through a mobile device. This will almost certainly be through the Nexus S, Google's latest hero phone, and it'll more than likely be in collaboration with Sprint, the carrier who's most recently gotten the phone on their network.
