Half-Life 2 Episode 1 hits new "Green Box" for SHIELD

NVIDIA has hit the Valve once again with the first mobile release of Half-Life 2: Episode One. This game will be released exclusively (at first) for the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet and optimized for the table's NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. Half-Life 2 Episode 1 will be part of a "Green Box" – a reference to the original "Orange Box" from Valve. This Green Box includes Half-Life 2 and Portal as well, all coming to the 32GB/LTE version of the SHIELD tablet, free when you purchase the tablet this Autumn.

Half-Life 2: Episode One is just the second of three titles included in the original Orange Box. There's also Half-Life 2: Episode Two which we can't imagine won't eventually hit the SHIELD Tablet as well – though it's not been confirmed as of yet. There's also Team Fortress 2, but that'd just be madness.

This release mirrors the unveiling of Portal as well as Half-Life 2 for the NVIDIA SHIELD handheld. Both titles have been out for the original SHIELD device since May of 2014. This is the only place Valve has released these titles for mobile devices thus far.

Be sure to have a peek at our SHIELD Tablet Review as well as our SHIELD Tablet LTE Review to get a better understanding of how both of these devices function in the real world.

Also be certain to peek at the NVIDIA GRID release and hands-on from earlier today and Android 5.0 Lollipop for SHIELD Tablet, as dated for release on November 18th.
