Kirby Star Allies review roundup: Everything is better with friends

Kirby Star Allies review roundup: Everything is better with friends

It's been a big year for Kirby so far. Back in January, 3DS owners received Kirby Battle Royale, which put an interesting spin on the long running franchise. The game that's arriving later this week, Kirby Star Allies, is more of a traditional Kirby adventure and the first in the series crafted for Nintendo Switch. Is Kirby's new game as successful as the (mostly) amazing first-party titles Nintendo has been churning out for the Switch?

Version 5.0.0 of the Switch firmware has just landed and while it’s not exactly a revolutionary update, it still has some significant improvements across the board, especially with parental controls.

Is Super Smash Bros for Switch a new game or a port?

Is Super Smash Bros for Switch a new game or a port?

Unquestionably, the biggest announcement from yesterday's Nintendo Direct is that Super Smash Bros is coming to the Switch. Switch owners have been hoping for a Super Smash Bros announcement ever since launch, with many of them assuming that Nintendo would port Super Smash Bros for Wii U over to its new console. This begs the question, though: Is the Super Smash Bros heading for the Switch a port, or is it a new game entirely?

Nintendo Direct: Super Smash Bros on Switch, WarioWare, Splatoon 2 DLC

Nintendo just finished its second Direct presentation of the year and suffice it to say, fans have a lot to look forward to across all the company’s gaming devices. Except for the Wii U. The Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS are the stars of the show, with both new games and ports of popular ones. The new titles still coming exclusively to the 3DS reaffirms Nintendo’s commitment to what some presumed would be left by the wayside in the Switch’s wake.

Nintendo Switch eShop has an indie-heavy week ahead of it

Tonight's Nintendo Direct will probably preview a number of big name titles from Nintendo and its third-party partners, but right now it's time to focus on some new indie games. Another Thursday has arrived, which means it's time for Nintendo to detail the games that will be heading to the Switch eShop over the course of the next week. While many weeks in 2018 have provided some big ports of well-known titles, that isn't the case with this week.

New Nintendo Direct for Switch and 3DS premieres tomorrow

New Nintendo Direct for Switch and 3DS premieres tomorrow

Lately, many Nintendo Switch fans have been driving themselves crazy with speculation about the next Nintendo Direct. Earlier in the year, Nintendo launched a Direct Mini that focused on some of the games coming to the Switch the year, but for fans, it didn't provide enough information. Nintendo usually pairs those Direct Minis with a second, full-length Nintendo Direct, leading many (especially those over on the Nintendo Switch subreddit) to assume that we'd get one in February.

Diablo 3 Switch port reportedly in production despite Blizzard’s claims

Last week, Blizzard made a very interesting tease related to Diablo. The company posted a GIF of a Diablo-themed night light being switched on and off to the game's official Twitter account, with the accompanying text only saying "sweet dreams." A lot of people took that to be a not-so-subtle reference to an incoming Switch port of Diablo 3.

Nintendo Switch’s lost play time data is a bug, fix incoming

While the one-year anniversary of the Nintendo Switch's launch was generally an exciting time, it came with a bad realization for some users. As it turns out, it seems the Switch is only capable of recording play time data for a year, so those who bought their console at launch found their data for games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was disappearing from their profiles.

This Diablo 3 on Nintendo Switch teaser is perfect

This Diablo 3 on Nintendo Switch teaser is perfect

It wasn't too long ago that Blizzard developed for PC and PC only. Though it's had a few console releases throughout the years (and, indeed, used to develop primarily for consoles back before the arrival of the first Warcraft game), most of Blizzard's big games have only been available on PC. There's been one notable exception to that rule: Diablo 3, which is available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after initially being ported to previous-generation consoles.
