Uber launches a standalone food delivery app

Uber has launched a dedicated app for its UberEATS service. With it, Android and iOS users are able to order food in Los Angeles, Chicago, and the few other cities where UberEATS is available using a standalone app separate from the car-ordering app. The app comes ahead of a bigger expansion Uber has planned for EATS, which includes rolling out service in Seattle, New York, Atlanta, Paris, and a few other cities.

Video: Big Mac withstands molten copper like a boss

Video: Big Mac withstands molten copper like a boss

People get a kick out of leaving McDonald’s fries and chicken nuggets sitting out for months, marveling at the lack of expected rot and degradation. That’s old news. Molten copper is all the rage right now, and some industrious fellow has been pouring it on various items and recording the resulting fallout. Latest on the chopping (pouring?) block was a Big Mac, but the molten copper merely rolled off its buns. Literally.

Joule Wearable Caffeine Patches Review : Better Than Coffee

Joule Wearable Caffeine Patches Review : Better Than Coffee

Over the past several weeks I've been testing out Joule, a system of wearable caffeine patches that administer the drug gradually rather than all at once. With coffee or soda I'd have been getting high and getting low within an hour. The sugar crash happens, I'm back below where I was when I started. What the folks making Joule have suggested is a fix. Not just a short burst of energy, but a lengthened distribution of caffeine through my skin.

Florida set to get its first cupcake ATM

Florida set to get its first cupcake ATM

People that know me well know that there is only one thing I like in the world more than cake. And that's a cupcake. After all, you don't have to mess with knives, forks, or even a plate with a cupcake. You just peel that wrapper off and stuff it in your face. I suppose you could do the same with regular cake, but that's a far more messy affair. Well one company wants to make sure that you have easy access to this portable treat, without having to make them yourself, or finding an open bakery.

Apple Watch users can now order Domino’s pizza from the wrist

US pizza chain Domino’s has been busy keeping up with tech trends over the last year and incorporating them into ways to place orders. Last spring they introduced a way for users to simply tweet @Dominos with a pizza emoji to place an order. That was followed up by an "Easy Order" button, reducing the ordering process to a single physical press. And just before the Super Bowl this year, the company introduced support for the Amazon Echo smart speaker. Now Domino’s is moving to the next logical platform: the Apple Watch.

Prepd Pack lunchbox is both attractive and smart

Prepd Pack lunchbox is both attractive and smart

Takeout meals are convenient, particularly after a long day spent working, but they’re often not very healthy, and it can be difficult to track calories. The solution is making a meal at home and packing it, but two common complaints are associated with this: poor cooking skills and self-consciousness when toting around a lunchbox. Prepd Pack aims to be the solution to both troubles, offering a smart way to eat healthy combined with an attractive grown-up design.

McDonald’s new fries in Japan are covered in chocolate

McDonald’s new fries in Japan are covered in chocolate

Japan gets all the fast-food oddities, and McDonald’s latest creation is no exception. In a statement today, McDonald’s Japan introduced its new McChoco Potato, a “twist” on the company’s long-standing potato french fries. This technically makes the side dish a desert, which is great. Not so great is the McChoco's limited release in Japan...for now, at least.

Harry Potter fan alert: you can now have dinner in the Great Hall

While you won't necessarily catch a glimpse of Dumbledore while you're there, the opportunity to eat dinner in the Great Hall at Hogwarts could be within your grasp. For one night only, Warner Bros. are opening the doors of the original interior set of the Great Hall from the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (or Sorcerer's Stone, if you saw the USA version), where they've dressed the hall to look relatively similar to its original state.
