First footage of 0x10c surfaces

Ever since Notch announced that he was handing off the main development duties on Minecraft to Jens Bergensten, Mojang fans have been waiting with bated breath to see what he'll do next. Earlier this year, Notch announced a new passion project called 0x10c, but in the time since that announcement, he's been relatively quiet on the game's progress. We've been given small updates here and there, but nothing all that substantial. Today, however, we're getting a peek at the first footage from the game, and you can check it out after the jump.

HP launches Open webOS 1.0

HP's TouchPad and Palm devices may be long and gone, but webOS (the mobile OS that these devices ran off of) has been alive and well despite its hardware extinction, mostly thanks to its open-source status. Open webOS, as its now called, went into beta in August, and now a month later, a final stable build is ready for consumption as version 1.0.

E-Ink concept double-display smartphone hands-on

E-Ink concept double-display smartphone hands-on

Big-screen smartphones may be the fashion, but how about two sizable screens on your next handset with negligible battery impact. SlashGear caught up with E Ink at IFA today to check out the company's latest prototypes, intended to spur some imagination among potential hardware partners. The mockups have a working e-paper screen filling the back, and a (non-functioning) LCD up front, offering two ways of displaying content simultaneously. And, while these might be concept devices right now, E Ink confirmed to us that there's at least one vendor looking at using the idea. Read on for a video demo.

Qualcomm extends Vuforia augmented reality to the cloud

Remember Vuforia? Qualcomm’s augmented reality platform allows you to scan real world objects and create “interactive experiences” on your smartphone or tablet. The technology had its limitation though, only scanning photos against a local database of 80 images. Now Qualcomm has announced that by adding the cloud into the mix, so the platform can perform image recognition against over one million images.

3DS to get new eShop game demos tomorrow

3DS to get new eShop game demos tomorrow

I think one of the best things to ever happen to console gaming on the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 were game demos. I can’t tell you how many video games I have purchased over the years that just sucked. Few things are worse to a gamer than dropping money on a new game and finding out it's not fun. Thankfully, you can grab the demo and never worry about that with many games today.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus Gaming Demo with Riptide GP and ShadowGun

Verizon Galaxy Nexus Gaming Demo with Riptide GP and ShadowGun

There are a couple of games out there right now that show off the graphics finesse of whatever platform you play them on quite well, and in quite an easily comparable sense when it comes down to it, those being Riptide GP, a jet-ski racing game, and ShadowGun, a 3rd person shooter - today we've got these games being demonstrated on Verizon's LTE version of the Galaxy Nexus. This device is the first to work natively with Google's mobile OS by the name of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and runs a Texas Instruments OMAP4 1.2GHz dual-core processor. Is it enough to compete with such gaming titans as the ultra-powerful NIVIDA Tegra 3 quad-core processor toting ASUS Transformer Prime, or perhaps the iPad 2 for good measure?

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Gameplay Demo Revealed [Video]

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Gameplay Demo Revealed [Video]

The massively epic story of Ezio, an Italian assassin whose story will be completed here in the third of three Assassin's Creed video game, is today revealed in video form. What we get to see today is a game that starts with a chariot race and fight, the finale of which leaves Ezio busted and near death having has his cart thrown down the side of a mountain, his crash and climb up leaving him without the ability to free-run or turn walls to walkways. You're playing a very similar game to the last Creed game, but you're certainly not starting your journey as the assassin with a full deck of cards. The graphics and gameplay, on the other hand, are top notch. Enter the Director's Cut of the Gamescon 2011 gameplay footage of Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

Gorilla Glass Demo [PLUS: How Gorilla Glass Works – Chemically!]

Gorilla Glass Demo [PLUS: How Gorilla Glass Works – Chemically!]

As you might already know, our man in the field Vincent was at PEPCOM last night checkin out all the fun electronics - but what was also there? Some sweet, undefeatable Gorilla Glass! This is the sort of glass the toughest devices with screens are apt to use - definitely not a low-grade situation. Gorilla Glass is made to last. Not to scratch, and definitely not to break. Over to the Gorilla Glass table last night and we were treated to a lovely demo by a nice man who let Vincent demo the glass by doing no less than attempting his hardest to break it. Fun!

Intel Moorestown Moblin v2.1 MID gets hands-on demo [Video]

Intel have rolled out plenty of mockups, conceptual art, non-functional prototypes and fancy slides over the past few months to show us what Moblin running on a Moorsetown-based MID might look like, but we've had to wait until IDF this past week to get a decent sighting of the platform in action.  MID Moves sat down with an Inventec prototype running Moblin 2.1; you can see their hands-on video after the cut.

Microsoft Zune HD Shows Marketplace Apps at Best Buy Demo

Did you happen to make it into a select few Best Buy stores over the weekend? If so, did you get a chance to stare at/touch/play with a Zune HD? We certainly hope so. But! If you didn't get that great of an opportunity, then it looks like a video might just have to cut it for now.
