Google Pay gives Android Pay a new wallet

A little over a month ago, Google revealed its plans to unify all of its different payment services under one name: Google Pay. Google Pay assimilates Android Pay, Google Wallet into a single platform

Google isn’t exactly known for always having a coherent product message and lineup. Just take a look at its current mess of messaging apps and services, not to mention those that it already retired. To a lesser extent, that is the same situation with its mobile payment systems, previously comprised of Android Pay, Google Wallet, and, if you’re in India, Tez. “Previously”, because Google is now combining two of those, namely Android Pay and Google Wallet, into a single “Google Pay” brand to reduce, or increase, confusion.

Android Pay Visa Checkout available now, one year later

“Good thing comes to those who wait” or “better late than never”. Those are probably the two overused aphorisms that come to mind when thinking of promised features that seemingly fell off the radar before suddenly and finally landing in users’ hands. That is definitely the case with the Visa Checkout support on Android Pay, which is reported to now be rolling out to some users, almost exactly a year after it was announced.
