It's Friday, so check out this Aston Martin Vulcan screaming

Aston Martin has a new hypercar in the pipeline, promising to bring something very loud and very special to the Geneva Auto Show early next month. Details on the Aston Martin Vulcan are still in short supply – right now the storied British marque is only previewing some track-day squealing and roaring – but according to the rumor machine the car is shaping up to be a slice of highly limited-edition exotica aimed at those who want to blast past McLaren and Ferrari owners when racing.

The official word from Aston Martin is that we'll have to wait until Geneva next month to find out what, exactly, is so special about Vulcan. However, according to Autocar UK, what we're actually hearing is a retort to the McLaren P1 GTR and Ferrari LaFerrari FXX K.

In short, it's said to be a track-only supercar experience, more than just an expensive car in its own right. Both the McLaren and the Ferrari come with their own support staff of engineers and race analysts, not only making sure the lucky owners of each have the best time on the track, but that some useful data can be gathered from it, too.

Aston Martin could well end up doing something similar. The expectation is a very limited run – perhaps less than thirty cars in total – and a V12 engine mustering something in the region of 750 HP. That would put it in the power envelope of the One-77, Aston's very limited edition bespoke coupé from several years back.

However, where the One-77 was a luxury cocoon for the 1-percent, the Vulcan is likely to be a much more aggressive beast. Carbon fiber and limited trim for extreme weight loss, not to mention the latest in aerodynamic slipperiness, are all almost certain.

Aston Martin's tradition of making very limited run cars for its enthusiasts goes back many years. More recently, however, the company has flirted with more unusual fare, including rebooting the Lagonda name for a super-luxe sedan for the Middle East, and ten Aston Martin DB10's for the upcoming SPECTRE movie.
