Apple Watch coming in April as iPhone sales make its launch a big deal

The Apple Watch has already been seen and obsessed over, but when are we actually getting it? Developers have already begun toying with the feature-set for Apple's first branded wearable — but when are we actually getting it? We have a good idea of what the battery life will be, and have seen the app that powers it along from the iPhone, but when are we actually getting it? On Apple's conference call after their earnings, Tim Cook told us: April.

Apple's CEO said their Apple Watch is expected to ship to consumers in April of this year. That's a few months later than was originally thought (we have been hearing March), but makes quite a bit of sense.

After reporting their best ever iPhone sales numbers, we're left to consider how many of those were iPhone 6 or 6 Plus models. If, say, half were Apple's latest iPhones (Cook also said the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus did better than the other models, but didn't break figures down), that leaves them with roughly 40 million users right now. By the time the Apple Watch hits, they could have 70 million iPhone 6 or 6 Plus users, if not more.

Looking back on survey results, 10% of iPhone owners say they are 'very likely' going to buy an Apple Watch in 2015. Consumers don't even care about the premium pricing the Apple Watch will carry.

Over the course of 2015, Apple could easily move 7-8 million Apple Watches or more. how everyone else in the wearables space will keep pace or even remain relevant remains to be seen.
