Sonic Mania Plus release date revealed with a snazzy new trailer

Last year, Sonic Mania surprised us all as a wonderful love letter to the Genesis-era Sonic the Hedgehog games. Sega is looking to recapture a little bit of that magic later this year with the release of Sonic Mania Plus. Not only will Sonic Mania Plus be released at retail - something we didn't get with the original, which was a digital-only title - but it will also toss some new content into the mix for good measure. Today, Sega finally revealed when we can expect Sonic Mania Plus to arrive, and the good news is that it'll be here relatively soon.

PlayStation Plus free games for May revealed

As alarming as it may be to realize that we've arrived at the end of April, the fact that May is right around the corner means that it's time for Sony to reveal a new slate of PlayStation Plus games. Those who are planning to pick up Detroit: Become Human when it launches later on in May might want to have a look at this new batch of PlayStation Plus games, as one of them comes from Detroit's director, David Cage.

Just in time for God of War, Target discounts PS4 Pro

Just in time for God of War, Target discounts PS4 Pro

While it's generally easy enough to find a discount on the standard PS4, the same isn't necessarily true for the more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro. Since it's a relatively recent console, price drops have been few and far between, but if you've been holding out on buying one in the hopes that you'll find it on the cheap, now is your chance. Target has started a new promotion on the PlayStation 4 Pro, and it nearly brings the console down to the price of a standard PlayStation 4.

Monster Hunter: World gets second major update with Kulve Taroth

The second big update for Capcom's Monster Hunter: World arrived this week, just in time to keep players entertained with new content and features. The biggest addition, of course, is a new monster to hunt in the form of Kulve Taroth, a massive golden Elder Dragon that includes a new quest type, along with its new weapons and armor to forge. But the update, which brings the game up to version 3.00, also includes a number of quality of life improvements.

Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer shows off old school mini games

It's been a little bit since we last heard from Kingdom Hearts 3, but over the weekend, Square Enix debuted a new trailer for the game. You should temper your expectations going in, however, because this trailer doesn't show off much gameplay or give away any real plot details. Instead, this new trailer is almost entirely centered around mini games you'll be able to play during your adventure.

Fortnite is finally back up

Fortnite is finally back up

Last night, Epic Games had to take Fortnite's servers down to perform emergency maintenance. What players were expecting to be a relatively short period of downtime then expanded into the early morning hours. It was clear that Epic had quite the issue on its hands, and the whole time, it wasn't able to give an ETA on when the servers would be back up.

God of War review roundup: 3 things we learned

God of War review roundup: 3 things we learned

While God of War 3 did a lot to neatly wrap up the original trilogy, it seems that Sony wasn't quite finished with one of its marquee franchises. Deep down, we all probably knew that God of War would be returning one day, but few of us probably expected to return like this. Instead of continuing the exploits of Kratos in Ancient Greece, this year's God of War serves as something of a soft reboot for the series, placing our fiery protagonist in a Norse setting.

Fortnite update 3.5 has great news for bad builders

Fortnite update 3.5 has great news for bad builders

A major part of surviving in Fortnite Battle Royale is learning how to build defensive structures quickly. In a firefight that is otherwise even, being the better builder can shift things in your favor, as the structures you build can keep you safe and give you an ever-important height advantage over your opponents. The problem is that being able to build these structures under fire is a skill that takes a lot of practice, and a lot of players (like myself) are awful at it.

PlayStation 5 not even close to a store near you!

The Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) might exist at some point, but for now - it's at least a couple years off. This information comes from a report that speaks with industry insiders who, in turn, suggest that there's no real news to be told. It's sort of like a non-report - or maybe a better comparison to make would be to a scientific study that proves a theory incorrect.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection heads west later this year

Mega Man X Legacy Collection heads west later this year

Though Capcom's recent Mega Man Legacy Collection was a fun way to revisit classic games in the series, it left many of us wondering if Capcom would give the same treatment to the Mega Man X series. After all, Mega Man X proved to be a very successful spin-off series all its own, with nearly as many games as the core Mega Man franchise. It turns out that no, Capcom hasn't forgotten about Mega Man X, and it will indeed be releasing a compilation of X games later this year.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy confirmed for Xbox One and PS4

Spyro Reignited Trilogy confirmed for Xbox One and PS4

Activision found a lot of success in reviving the Crash Bandicoot franchise with last year's N. Sane Trilogy, so it only makes sense that it would look to other dormant series for more opportunities. Back in February, we heard that the company may be thinking of giving the original Spyro trilogy the same treatment it gave to Crash Bandicoot, and today, Activision confirmed those reports.
