Pokemon GO update requires new iPhone to play (for some)

This week the folks at Niantic announced an update to Pokemon GO, an update that might not sit well for users of elderly iPhones. This update requires that device have the ability to upgrade to iOS 11. As such, some older iPhones will not be allowed to use the app through the future. If your iPhone is not capable of running iOS 11, you'll have to quit playing Pokemon GO until you get a new phone.

Pokemon GO AR+ update gives iPhone Trainers an edge

Pokemon GO AR+ update gives iPhone Trainers an edge

Pokemon GO is adopting Apple's ARKit, with an incoming update to the augmented reality game promising a much better experience on iPhone and iPad. The new Pokemon GO AR+ feature will be exclusive to Apple's devices - since, of course, Apple isn't making ARKit available for other platforms such as Android - and promises more accurate positioning and perspective of Pokemon encountered in the encounter mode. They'll also scale more accurately in size.

Pokemon GO News: Christmas is going to be terrible

Pokemon GO News: Christmas is going to be terrible

If the Pokemon GO event Niantic considered this week goes through to a live game, it's going to be just the worst. That is, if nothing changes, and we get Delibird in an EX Raid battle - oh my goodness that'd be so silly. Delibird is the worst possible Pokemon in the game, but also the perfect Pokemon for Christmas, Hanukah, Festivus, and every gift-giving event in-between. If Delibird is indeed released with gift-giving powers this year, it'll be the biggest punch in the expectations we've had yet.

Pokemon GO Sprint ads as notifications: Are you kidding me?

Notifications from the Pokemon GO app arrived this week with a promotion from Sprint encouraging phone buys. This was not the first time Niantic sent a notification to users on iPhone and Android devices, but it was the first time they pushed for an outside buy. In this rather blatant advertisement this morning, Niantic promised a reward of in-game currency to users who switched from their current mobile provider to Sprint.
