Huawei Honor Pad 2 tablet, Watch S1 smartwatch break cover

Huawei may already have a lot of devices beyond smartphones, but its sub-brand honor hasn’t ventured outside as much. That changes today as the company launches two new devices that aren’t phones. The Honor Pad 2, as the number implies, follows up on Honor’s previous slate, while the Honor Watch S1 dives head first into full smartwatch territory. And, in typical Honor fashion, these devices will be offered with dirt cheap prices, though which markets outside of China will get it remains an open question.

Honor and Marvel Studios team for Doctor Strange limited-edition Honor 8 smartphones

Honor has announced that it has a new team up with Marvel Studios that will focus on the flick Doctor Strange that will hit theaters on October 25. The new partnership will see limited edition Honor 8 handsets that are etched with Doctor Strange's "Eye of Agamotto" available. It's unclear if these limited edition devices will be available to purchase or if they will only be available as prizes via the Marvel UK Facebook page.

Huawei honor 8 promised to get 2 years of software updates

Huawei sub-brand honor is clearly piling up the treats to entice US customers to switch over from more popular, mainstream, carrier subsidized smartphones they've become used to. In addition to releasing the near flagship but definitely more affordable honor 8 smartphone, the company is now promising that said device is guaranteed to receive continuous software updates over two years, and a wee bit more afterwards. That's almost as good as the Nexus promise, except in a branded, and customized, Android experience.

Honor might not be a name you're familiar with in smartphones, but the upstart handset maker is hoping to change all that with the Honor 8 - particularly if you're a Millennial. Huawei's sub-brand may have a tendency to over-use the phrase "digital native" but for Android buyers on a budget its strategy of selling direct and cutting out the middle-man makes the Honor 8 almost disturbingly good value for money.
