T-Mobile’s 600 MHz LTE just went live, but it has unusual plans

T-Mobile has thrown the switch on 600 MHz LTE, promising a "record-shattering" roll-out of the new spectrum use as it fills in rural America's patchy connectivity. The carrier certainly can't be accused of wasting any time, having secured the 600 MHz spectrum licenses only two months ago. Usually, T-Mobile says, a customer roll-out like this would take more like two years.

Apple Watch 3 will look the same, gain LTE says Kuo

Apple Watch 3's release and release details appeared this week in an analyst note on Apple's singular wearable device. This note came from notoriously accurate analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, who suggested that the 3rd-gen Apple Watch won't look particularly different from previous models. Why would it? Not when there's a whole bunch of Apple Watch straps that were designed for the look of the first-gen device.

T-Mobile has announced that LTE-Unlimited, otherwise known as LTE-U, is now available to customers in a handful of cities in the US. These cities include some big places like Las Vegas and Brooklyn, as well as some smaller places like Dearborn, Michigan and Richardson, Texas. If you do live in one of these regions and you're a T-Mobile subscriber, there's still a catch: your phone has to support LTE-U and yours probably doesn't.

The iPhone 8 could sacrifice gigabit LTE

The iPhone 8 could sacrifice gigabit LTE

Apple's legal spat with Qualcomm might seem like background noise easily tuned out by iPhone users, but it could have a big impact on how well the iPhone 8 performs. The two companies are currently embroiled in a patent argument over cellular radio standards, with Apple threatening to withhold royalty payments that it claims are extortionate. Now, the new iPhone might end up less capable on next-generation networks as a result.

Surface Pro has some great news (and some bad)

At first glance, Microsoft has knocked the new Surface Pro out of the park. Coming hot on the heels of the Surface Laptop, the tablet-that's-a-notebook (and which mustn't be called the Surface Pro 5, oh no) could've been overshadowed by its Alcantara-clad clamshell sibling. Instead, Microsoft has gone down the wishlist of existing owners and ticked all the boxes. Well, all apart from one.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 brings Cat. 4 LTE to feature phones

With all the focus on the high-end, premium smartphones, it’s almost too easy to take for granted that not everyone in the world needs or can even afford such devices.
