iPhone 6s September 9 event tipped with Apple TV

Apple will hold its big iPhone event on September 9, insiders say, with a new Apple TV also expected along with revamped iPads. Widely expected to see the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus smartphones announced, the event is scheduled for the week beginning September 7th, "with Wednesday the 9th being the most likely date" sources tell Buzzfeed.

That certainly wouldn't break form from previous years, with Apple scheduling a special event that week in September for nine years of the past decade.

Although the changes to the iPhone 6s aren't expected to be as dramatic as the switch from iPhone 5s to 6 last September, a few significant improvements are still predicted. One of which is Force Touch, already available on the Apple Watch and MacBook trackpad, and allowing the iPhone's screen to register degrees of pressure as well as simple taps.

Though the iPhone 6s is set to be the meat of the party, it won't be the only surprise, the sources claim.

In fact, they lend their weight to previous rumors that a new Apple TV is on the cards. Slimmer and more powerful than the existing model, it's said to use Apple's A8 chipset and include more memory, as well as an updated remote for easier control.

On the software side, the fourth-gen Apple TV is tipped to use Siri for voice-controlled navigation. It may well resemble the concept above, by Martin Hajek.

Finally, Apple's packed schedule is expected to include new iPads, though the insiders are uncertain on whether that line-up will include the well-rumored iPad Pro.

Described as a "wildcard", the purportedly 12.9-inch tablet would presumably be targeted at multimedia professionals.

Apple is yet to officially announce its date for the event, which traditionally would not happen until roughly a week or so beforehand.
