Google Pixel 3 XL leaked front and back

Today we're having a peek at what's basically the full front and back of the Google Pixel 3 XL, in leak form. Photos produced by an insider of some sort to XDA show the device in detail. Not only from the front and the back, but on all sides, as well. What it would seem, here, is that someone got their hands on a prototype device that wasn't meant to be seen by the public.

What is this?

The images you'll see below this paragraph come from Jonas Daehnert, aka Phone Designer. He's come up in the early-look mobile ranks rather quickly in the last few weeks because of his quick hand on the render wheel. Based solely on the leaks from XDA, Daehnert created what you see before you. Daehnert can be found on Twitter as @PhoneDesigner.

He's also responsible for the if it looks like this, sign me up renderings from the tail end of May. The newest renderings take on the front and the back in as photo-accurate a way as possible, complete with material reflectivity and surface structure. Now, if only Google would make one in olive green and bubblegum pink, we'd have something real unique.

VS OnePlus 6

For now, what we're looking at is another Google iteration, a new Pixel that follows trends like it's LG or something. Almost as if Google is depending solely on their ability to create the greatest camera software on a smartphone... Because that's what they've got. The rest of the device might as well be a OnePlus 6. You won't find many differences here.

The Google Pixel 3 XL here has no headphone jack – the OnePlus 6 has a headphone jack. The Google Pixel 3 XL here has a full glass back, like the OnePlus 6. There's a single camera on the Pixel 3 XL here, while OnePlus 6 has two, but it really doesn't matter in a major way for sales. Both companies punch WELL below their weight when it comes to end sales, sadly.

Instead we'll see Samsung and Apple continue to dominate the smartphone markets around the Western World while companies like Huawei and Xiaomi summon their strength in China. There they'll grow, growing ever more confident in their ability to capture US customers across the sea. Just as soon as they stop planting China state-made spyware on their phones and selling hardware to Iran – that'll be the day we're excited once again about China's heroes.

Release Date

If all goes according to precedent, it's quite likely we'll see this and other Pixel devices revealed in August of 2018. That lines up with the completely anonymous and unofficial word we've been delivered which suggests Google will likely release said devices in October of 2018.

As you'll notice in our most recent investigation in leaks for the Pixel 3 in the timeline of links below, the pieces are falling into place earlier than they did last year. That MAY indicate an earlier reveal and release – but we'll see!
