Vivo X6 And Plus Released, Both Join The HTC/iPhone Lookalike Club
This week the folks at Vivo have decided to reveal a set of device by the name of Vivo X6 and Vivo X6 Plus. These devices should look fairly familiar to you. They have a set of details that will remind you instantly of either an HTC One or an iPhone, depending on what you're more familiar with. They might even remind you of a Samsung Galaxy S6. They've all joined a family of machines that come from a single design philosophy – one where the front of the phone is white or black and covered with glass while the back is metal or glass and has two two antenna bands.
Look at the lines here. We just had a conversation about how the HTC One A9 looks like an iPhone 6, and how an iPhone 6 looks like an HTC One, and so on and so forth. Now we've got another device that you'd be forgiven for mistaking as either one of the devices made by Apple or HTC.
Take a peek at the speakers. You're seeing the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (whose speakers are the same as the Galaxy S6), the iPhone 6/6s, and this new Vivo device. Speakers have been placed at the bottom of smartphones before, but the holes here are basically the same. Basically.
This design language replication puts the original Samsung vs iPhone court case argument to shame. It may be time again to hit the original "Purple" copyright claims once again.
That fingerprint scanner placement might remind you of a Huawei phone, too. Or perhaps the HTC One Max and its fingerprint scanner will refresh your memory?
This set of devices from Vivo will be going on sale in China imminently. Like past Vivo releases, we doubt they'll be released in the United States any time soon.
