iPad mini 5 continues to impress in bend test

iPad mini 5 continues to impress in bend test

While Apple's iPads are famous for being extremely thin, they are also notorious for being extremely thin. With a large surface area than a smartphone, the probability of the slate bending and even breaking is equally larger. The thinnest iPad of this generation, the iPad Pro, met a catastrophic end in the hands of JerryRigEverthing's Zack Nelson. The YouTuber has now subjected the 2019 iPad mini to the same torture to see if old school is still the best school.

I’m so glad the iPad mini isn’t dead

Sometimes the fates take away the ones you love, and sometimes - like today, and the new iPad mini 5th generation - you get a second chance. Apple's decision not to ditch its smallest tablet and instead give it a new lease of life is, frankly, a surprise in many ways, but it's one I'm pleased to see.

Apple’s iPad range (almost) makes sense now

Apple's iPad line-up had a big gap in the middle, something the new 10.5-inch iPad Air and iPad mini 2019 address today. Promising to balance affordability and specifications, the new tablets slot right into the midrange, offering not one but two options for those turned off or priced out of Apple's existing iPads.

10.5-inch iPad Air and iPad mini 2019 official: Apple Pencil and bold pricing

Apple made a surprising move this morning, announcing two new iPads by way of a press release instead of the reveal events we're used to seeing. We doubt many Apple fans will care about the form these announcements took, though, as the company is reviving both the iPad Air and iPad mini lines with these new devices. In the case of the iPad mini, that revival has been a particularly long time coming, as we haven't seen a new one of those in nearly four years.

Apple’s new iPad 2019 could keep two beloved features

Apple's new iPad (2019) won't follow the iPad Pro in dropping two of the tablet's most popular features, a new report claims, with the iPad 7th generation said to stick fairly closely to the existing design. Apple left some tablet users frustrated with the two new iPad Pro models in 2018, after dropping Touch ID in favor of Face ID facial recognition.

iPad mini 5 tipped to cut costs, even with feature boost

The 5th-generation iPad mini was teased today with abilities that match those of higher-end devices. This is largely due to the addition of parts that'd previously been used on other devices - much like the most recent standard iPad. The standardization of parts used here would (and does) lower the cost of production for the device while bringing higher processing power and new features to a new-generation device.

For the last few months we've heard rumors about a new iPad Mini for 2019, while word of a new iPod Touch is a surprise for many. It seems both are in the works, however, as the latest beta release for iOS 12.2 includes mentions of unannounced devices.

iPad mini 5, 10-inch iPad coming first half of the year

While it seems that Apple is trying to capitalize on its iPad Pros capabilities as “computer replacements”, it hasn’t completely forgotten about its non-Pro slates. In fact, based on information from suppliers, two such iPads are coming within the next five months. But while that’s almost a given considering Apple has not canceled the iPad mini and regular iPad lines, the biggest question is how the company plans on positioning these devices in light of the iPhone XS Max and the 11-inch iPad Pro.

iPad mini 5 leak hints at iPad Pro mini design

The demand for larger screens has supposedly made small tablets redundant and unattractive. The iPad mini, however, seems to be the exception to that, as it continues to still selling well and finds not just fans but also enough buyers to apparently warrant another shot. Leaked photos of an alleged iPad mini 5 case have started going around and, at least based on the cutouts, it seems like it might be the iPad Pro mini that some may have been hoping for.

iPad mini 5 and 10-inch iPad could give Apple a 2019 tablet hit

Apple's long neglect of the iPad mini will come to an end in 2019, reports out of China suggest, as part of sweeping changes to the Cupertino firm's more affordable tablets rumored to kick off in the new year. While 2018 saw significant advancements in high-end models like the iPad Pro 11-inch and iPad Pro 12.9, more affordable - and, most importantly, physically smaller - versions like the iPad mini have flown under the radar.
