This morning a report from South Korea tipped several key details for the Samsung Galaxy F, the company's first foldable display-toting smartphone. The device seems to have been confirmed to be called the Samsung Galaxy F, F most likely representing Foldable. This device was shown with the majority of its body covered by a protective, blocky case at this past week's Samsung Developer Conference - so we know it exists. Besides that, Samsung itself basically revealed nothing - from a certain point of view.

This week both Samsung and Google broke down the components of the upcoming "foldables" trend in smartphones, starting with the next Galaxy. Today we're going to break down the basics and try to get a baseline understanding of what these folding display-toting devices are all about. Ahead of that arrival comes details of two deals covering both gadgets, one offering the tablet at half-off its regular price, the other offering the smartphone at only $10/month. Samsung's Galaxy X (or F, or whatever it'll be called) may well be beaten to the punch by a device called FlexPai. Manufactured and sold by the folks at Royole, the Royole FlexPai is, indeed, what they call "the world's first foldable smartphone." Given the company's development of flexible displays over the past four months, there should probably be no doubt that they're capable of getting this flexible smartphone to market. With rumors of its foldable smartphone continuing to swirl, Samsung has decided to go in a completely different direction by announcing two mid-range devices for the US. Today, Samsung announced that the Galaxy A6 smartphone and the Galaxy Tab A 10.5-inch tablet, which have both debuted in other regions already, will arrive Stateside later this month. Obviously, being mid-range devices, they don't really have the hardware to compete with Samsung's flagship phones and tablets, but the trade-off is that you won't be paying $1000 for the privilege of owning one.

Samsung is developing a new GPU for its future smartphones and tablets, according to a new leak. This GPU is said to feature a "novel architecture" that makes it suitable for both future Galaxy smartphones and other applications ranging up to supercomputers. According to the report, Samsung hasn't decided whether it will license its new technology, which is expected to first appear alongside its Exynos processor.
