LG V30 price tip is a breath of fresh air

As expected, LG showed up to IFA 2017 with the V30, it's fall flagship, in hand. So far, the V30 looks like it could be a worthy successor to last year's excellent V20. Just one thing remains up in the air: how much is this thing going to cost? In the era of $1000 phones, it's a valid question, and thanks to an LG giveaway we may now have a price.

LG Mobile USA is currently holding a giveaway that will see three LG V30 handsets given out to three separate winners. This being a giveaway, LG has to reveal the cash value of the prizes it's offering, and since the only prize is the phone without any extras, that value gives us a good idea of what we can expect the price to be.

One eagle-eyed Reddit user by the name ctsmith76 found an ARV of $749.99 lurking within the giveaway's fine print. This is, more or less, what we'd expect from the LG V30 if we're operating under the assumption that LG will keep the price similar year-to-year. Of course, that assumption gets us into trouble with some other phones, namely the Galaxy Note 8, which has a full retail price that gets dangerously close to $1000.

Indeed, with rumors saying that Apple could reveal a $1000 iPhone at its September 12 event, the LG V30 could soon be the one of the few smartphones out there with a reasonable price. We'll just have to wait and see, we suppose.

In any case, the price we see here may not be the price we end up seeing at some carriers. Hopefully we'll find out the V30's price for sure in the next few weeks, but keep in mind that the phone doesn't have a solid release date yet. When carriers begin announcing release dates, we'll almost certainly get a final price along with them, so stay tuned.
