iPhone 4S pre-order stock sold out inside first day of sales

While the only reported sales numbers are coming from AT&T at "200,000 orders", it's clear if you visit any of the three carriers OR the Apple store itself that the iPhone 4S has now completely sold out of its pre-order stock. Have a look at your Apple store online and you'll find that pre-order sales have shifted to 1-2 weeks, this putting shipping dates past the original delivery date quoted on the day of announcement. What this means is that if you'd like to get an iPhone 4S on launch day, you're going to have to head down to one of the three carriers or your local Apple store and set up a tent – camping time, ladies and gentlemen!

This who've received reservations from Apple in the first few hours of pre-order availability will have until 5PM Pacific Time Saturday (today) to return and complete their orders before losing their priority standing. So GET ON IT. Meanwhile the rest of us will either have to go grab a backpack full of peanuts and water and head down to the Apple store or cry in a corner, because even though there's been a lot of griping going on in the Apple-loving social community here online, there's one whole heck of a lot MORE people getting pumped up to get that new iPhone.

The gripes have come at the idea that Apple should have released a new device, aka an iPhone 5, instead up simply upgrading the iPhone 4 to an iPhone 4S. Analysts such as our own Chris Davies, on the other hand, expected such a move right up until just hours before the iPhone event this past week. OTHER analysts, such as the infallible Don Reisinger, hold the opinion that the iOS gaming environment, especially now with that A5 chip in both the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S, brings us into a new golden age, just like the early 90's.

Launch day for the iPhone 4S is October 14th, 2011, run to the store now!
