Huawei P30 Pro leak puts rear quad camera front and center

Though most of our attention might be on the foldable Huawei Mate X at the moment, Huawei is winding up to make another big announcement. Next month, Huawei will reveal its P30 series of phones in Paris, and through rumors and Huawei's own teases, we know they should be pretty big reveals. Perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise, then, that the P30 and the P30 Pro have been the subject of quite a few leaks.

The latest leak shows us the front and back of the both the P30 and P30 Pro. In those images, we see the rear quad-camera of the P30 Pro, which has been rumored at least a few times before. The cameras are arranged in a different way than recently-leaked Spigen cases suggested they would be, with a vertical array of three lenses placed next to the flash and the fourth lens.

Today's leak comes from German site WinFuture, which expects one of those lenses to grant the P30 Pro 10x optical zoom capabilities. Huawei's own teasers for the P30 reveal event seem to focus on the zooming capabilities of these phones, and and even Huawei executive Walter Ji has suggested in the past that phones with quad cameras boasting 10x zoom were something Huawei was pursuing. With repeated leaks and Huawei's teasers, it looks like 10x zoom will be a marquee feature for the P30 Pro.

The standard P30 differs somewhat from the P30 Pro. Around the back, there's only a triple camera array, though details on what kind of functionality it'll lack as a result of that one missing lens are unknown. It's also worth pointing out that both phones will have a waterdrop notch for the front camera, so aside from the differences in rear cameras, both phones end up looking pretty similar.

We have a little while longer to wait before Huawei actually pulls back the veil on the P30 and P30 Pro, as its Paris reveal event won't happen until March 24. We'll be covering that event as it happens right here at SlashGear, so stay tuned for more information.
