Galaxy Note 6 details 2x phones, 5.8-inch screen, massive battery

It's just a few months now before the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 ends up being revealed by the company, just in time to battle the next iPhone. Just as it was the past several years with release timing, it shall be again – we have no indication at this time to the contrary. But what has been and was stopped may end up being brought back – more than one Samsung Galaxy Note in a year. Blasphemous? Maybe. Curved? Almost certainly.

Over the past several weeks we've heard rumors and substantiated claims from anonymous sources that suggest we'll have two Galaxy Note handsets available by the end of the year. One would be a slightly more traditional approach – with the curves ending up on the back, not entirely unlike what we saw last year with the Note 5.

The other version would have curves up front – and either both edges like the Galaxy S7 Edge or just one, like the original Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

That device was thick. This device might not be.

First you're going to see a set of specifications that have been gleaned from leaks and anonymous tips over the past several weeks (and months). Remember that these are NOT OFFICIAL SPECS – they are based on RUMORS.

Then there's the Galaxy Note 6 Edge – or maybe the Galaxy Note Edge 2? That'd be weird. If it did exist, it'd essentially be the size and shape of the Galaxy Note 6, but turned around backward. Edges to flatness, flatness to edge.

What we're very much looking forward to is a big jump in functionality for the S Pen, no matter what the display is doing. Given Apple's interest in the stylus over the past year with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, we would not be surprised to see Samsung step their game up significantly.

Graphics are most certainly going to be extra-hot, as well – especially with Vulcan API and the next generation in mobile GPUs.

We'll be looking forward to some of that advance fluency too.
