Watch the iPhone 6 get smashed in drop tests

It's the first day the iPhone 6 has been out in the wild, and what do people do? They smash it! They call them "Drop Tests," aimed in some cases to freak out iPhone fans in line for the device, and in others to actually, truly test the device's ability to withstand the ground. Disclaimer: Andy Samberg has not yet done a "happy birthday to the ground" to the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. We'll be waiting on that one.

NOTE: Don't go too far without having a peek at our iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Review. It's huge!

First you'll see the iPhone 6 Drop Test from the folks at fix pod in Sydney. This drop results in a bashed in screen. Right in front of a bunch of people. It's just wild.

Next you'll see the highly scientific – meaning not especially – tests by PhoneBuff. They've got both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Imagine the durability of these devices as they greet the ground.

From Josh at Android Authority you'll see a comparison of drops between the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on some stone. This should serve as a good reminder to everyone who hates cases – these devices are made of aluminum and glass. Those aren't bash-resistant.

Finally you'll see the fellow who was one of the first to unbox the iPhone 6 in Perth. This poor guy was unboxing the device on live TV and dropped it. It's not a pretty situation.
