Verizon LG G3 updates with VoLTE

A software update is coming your way if you own the Verizon iteration of the LG G3. This update will bring you access to Verizon's Voice Over LTE network, right alongside the LG G2 – which was released last year. The Samsung Galaxy S5 also has VoLTE access, as does the DROID MAXX, DROID Mini, and both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. This LG G3 update will start rolling out this afternoon across the United States – if you don't have it yet, just wait – you will sooner than later.

VoLTE known at Verizon as "Advanced Calling 1.0" and is available "at no additional charge" as it's already included in Verizon mobile and data plans. What you're charged for here is video calls, but instead of cutting in to your monthly data allotment, it cuts into your voice minutes.

The software update coming with VoLTE this week will also update your Contacts, Email, LGBackUp, Camera, and LGLTECall apps. You'll want to use that LG LTECall app specifically to make full use of the VoLTE service through Verizon.

This LG G3 update brings an update to GSM R5 for the most up-to-date connectivity to Verizon's network. You'll find a new version of Softcard Wallet and My Verizon Mobile in this update as well.

Now we wait for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Get ready to twiddle your thumbs a long time on this one.
