SpaceX launching two craft at once today: Watch Live

For the third time in as many days, the team at SpaceX set up for another attempt at launching a deep-space weather buoy. The first attempt at launching this satellite called DSCOVR was on Sunday, stopped stopped just moments before takeoff due to a problem with an Air Force radar. Monday another launch was attempted and halted. A technical glitch was to blame – a reset was planned for this afternoon. This re-launch will take place at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida at at 6:05 p.m. EST (2305 GMT) today.

If all goes as planned, another craft will be taking off this week. The Dragon capsule currently attached to the International Space Station will be heading back towards Earth this afternoon.

That craft originally attached itself to the ISS this January. This SpaceX mission launched a Falcon 9 to bring the Dragon to the ISS to supply astronauts with nearly 1,300 pounds of cargo. Inside were scientific experiment tools as well as all manner of living supplies.

NOTE: The first video you see here was previously recorded. Watch the LIVE launch of the DISCOVR satellite nearer the end of this article!

Of special note – this was not the Space Taxi we've been talking about lately, but a supply mission similar to previous missions flown by SpaceX to the ISS.

The Dragon capsule will depart the station at 2:09 PM EST (1909 GMT).

The Dragon capsule is set to fire its braking rocket later this afternoon, leaving orbit and hitting the Pacific Ocean at around 4:44 PST (0744 EST, 0044 GMT).

So watch out, world, there'll be one SpaceX craft coming down, then not a few hours later, another going back up!
