Sony Japan Tip PS3 3D Update For June 10th?
Sony Japan have seemingly let the 3D cat out of the bag, by confirming that the PlayStation 3 titles Wipeout HD, Star Strike HD and Pain will get upgrade options to support 3D playback on June 10th 2010. Sony had previously said that the 3D update for the PS3 would arrive sometime in June, but this new information suggests that the new firmware is more imminent than expected.
Both Wipeout HD and Star Strike HD will be getting free updates to support 3D play, while the Pain update will be priced at the equivalent of around $3. Of course, this doesn't mean the US will see the same update at the same time, but given Sony UK have set a June release date we can keep our fingers crossed for a simultaneous global roll-out. A 3DBD update for the PS3 will follow on later in 2010.
