Sony BRAVIA Link modules: Wireless 1080i, slimline DVD upscaler & extra HDMI

It's not just Samsung with some media streaming news today; Sony have announced availability for their new BRAVIA Link modules, the Wireless Link, DVD Link and Input Link.  Each is intended to augment your home entertainment setup without requiring a monumental re-wiring effort.  The Wireless Link can beam a 1080i signal up to 65 feet from the transmitter box – wth four HDMI and one component inputs – to the receiver, which you latch onto the back of your HDTV and connect via HDMI.

The DVD Link, meanwhile, is a slimline DVD player that straps to the rear panel of your HDTV and can upscale standard-definition discs to 720p/1080i/1080p.  It connects via HDMI and also supports MP3 discs, JPEG picture shows and up to 1080/60p.

Finally, the Input Link is basically a straightforward way to add an extra four HDMI ports to your BRAVIA HDTV.  Unlike normal HDMI switchers, however, each of the (compatible) sources plugged in can integrate with the Sony Xross Media Bar interface.  It supports up to 1080/60p.

All three systems integrate as new menu options in your BRAVIA HDTV, and can be controlled with the existing remote.  The Wireless Link will ship in October with a MRSP of around $800; the DVD Link is shipping now, with sticker price of around $200; and the Input Link is also available now, at around $150.
