Samsung, Acer Chromebooks Now Available For Pre-Orders
Although Google's Chromebooks appeared early on the exclusive flash sales site Gilt about a week ago, the actual launch won't be until June 15. The first two Chromebooks will be coming from Google partners Samsung and Acer. And now, less than a week from launch, the two Chromebooks are available for pre-orders on Amazon and Best Buy.
The Samsung Series 5 Chromebook is the larger and more expensive of the two. It sports a 12.1-inch display, dual core Intel Atom processor, boasting all-day battery life and 8-second boot up time. It will come with both a WiFi-only and a 3G/WiFi model as well as two color options. The WiFi model will be priced at $429 while the 3G is priced at $499.
The Acer Cromia Chromebook has similar specs as the Samsung model, but sports a smaller 11.6-inch display and slightly shorter battery life rating. Its prices range from $380 for the WiFi-only version to $450 for the 3G version. You can find the links to pre-order at Amazon and Best buy here.
