Roku Netflix Player gets HD streaming with firmware v1.5

As tipped back in November, Roku have begun streaming Netflix content in high-definition.  Owners of the Netflix Player by Roku will find their media players automatically updating to firmware version 1.5 over "the next few weeks", at which point the will be able to access Netflix's catalog of "hundreds" of high-definition titles.

In addition, further high-definition content from new providers is expected to be added to the Roku box in Q1 of 2009.  However the company has not revealed which content suppliers they have partnered with.

The Netflix Player by Roku is available now, priced at $99.99.  There doesn't appear to be a way to trigger the update yourself; it's apparently being rolled out according to serial number.
