Red Dead Redemption 2's first trailer has arrived - watch it here

Like clockwork, the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 has arrived. Just like it said it would, Rockstar has released the first teaser trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 only a few days after officially announcing the game. Between this trailer and the announcement of the Nintendo Switch, it's already a pretty big day for the gaming world.

However, don't expect to learn a whole lot about Red Dead Redemption 2 from this teaser. We don't get introduced to any of the characters nor do we discover anything about the story, so this is fairly content-light. What we do get to see, however, are some rather beautiful shots of the American Frontier, which is where the game will take place.

If you're like me and you've returned to the original Red Dead Redemption in anticipation of its sequel, you might notice that it's looking a little rough around the edges here in 2016. That certainly isn't the case with Red Dead Redemption 2, as the trailer shows us greatly improved graphics over its predecessor. This is shaping up to be one excellent looking game – it's just a shame that Rockstar hasn't announced it for PC, where it could look even better.

Indeed, as of this moment, Red Dead Redemption 2 is only slated for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Given Grand Theft Auto's history on the platform, there's reason to hope for an eventual PC reveal, though it hasn't come yet. Another thing to consider is that the original Red Dead Redemption never made it to PC, even though many players were expecting a port to arrive at some point.

We'll just have to see how this all shakes out in between now and the game's fall 2017 release. For now, however, we're left to glean what we can from the teaser and hope that more information will be arriving shortly.
