PlayStation Plus price increase: Jump on this deal before it's too late

A couple of weeks back, Sony announced some bad news for PlayStation Plus users in the EU. At the end of August, prices on PlayStation Plus subscriptions are going to rise, somewhat significantly in some cases. This price hike follows a similar one in the US last year, and as you can probably imagine, PlayStation Plus users aren't exactly happy with the added expense.

After all, who would be? A PlayStation Plus subscription is necessary to play PS4 games online, so if you're a fan of multiplayer, you have to keep paying the subscription fee no matter what Sony does to it. It's pretty easy to understand the frustration here.

Sony, however, has extended something of an olive branch to those upset PlayStation Plus subscribers. Today the company began offering a new deal that offers 15 months of PlayStation Plus service for the price of 12. That, importantly, means you can get 15 months at the current price of £39.99/€49.99 before the price hike goes into effect.

On August 31, those sprice will jump up by £10/€10 to become £49.99/€59.99. Just as well, three-month subscriptions will jump up to £19.99/€24.99 (up from £14.99/€19.99), while one-month subscriptions will climb to £6.99/€7.99 (up from £5.99/€6.99). While you're not technically saving any money by taking advantage of this deal, you are personally delaying the price hike for a further three months.

Sony says this deal will run until August 28 and that all PlayStation Plus subscribers in Europe can take advantage of it. If you've got some extra cash laying around, it might be a good idea to put it toward more PlayStation Plus time and utilize this deal before it's too late. You can purchase this limited time PS Plus subscription through the PlayStation Store.
