Phonejoy Android game controller ships to Kickstarter backers

One of the things that many Android gamers have wanted is a game controller that will add physical controls to their smartphone or tablet for gaming. Playing games with the on screen touch controls isn't ideal in many instances. Back in late 2012, a new Android gaming controller surfaced called Phonejoy.

By January of 2013, the Phonejoy controller had racked up a lot of backers and money in pre-sales on Kickstarter. The project eventually raised almost $70,000. With over a year past since the controller was on Kickstarter, the controller is finally shipping.

The Kickstarter backers of the Phonejoy will begin receiving their controllers soon. Phonejoy works with Android, PC, and iCade devices and gives a full set of controls that look like what you would find on a game console controller.

A sliding design allows the Phonejoy to open wide enough for most smartphones and phablets to fit inside the controller. If you missed the Kickstarter campaign, you can still order a Phonejoy for yourself. Retail availability is set for April at a price of $69.90. Phonejoy will also find its way to retailers like Amazon, eBay, and Newegg.
