Overwatch: Uprising event takes us back in time

It's time for Overwatch's next seasonal event, but instead of drawing inspiration from real-world happenings like holidays or the Olympics, this one focuses on Overwatch lore. This new event, dubbed Overwatch: Uprising, will take us back in time, to a period before Overwatch was disbanded and was needed to prevent another Omnic crisis.

To start things off, the trailer shows off a remade King's Row map that serves as ground zero for the conflict between Overwatch and the Omnics, who are in open revolt. It appears that Overwatch: Uprising will feature a new PvE brawl that tasks players with defending King's Row against incoming hordes of Omnics. If it's anything like Jukenstein's Revenge from the Halloween event, it should be a lot of fun.

Of course, it seems that the new modes and themes tend to take a backseat to the additional cosmetics that are introduced with these new events. As expected, Overwatch: Uprising is launching with special loot boxes that contain more than 100 new cosmetic items ranging from sprays and icons to skins and highlight intros.

In my personal opinion, these skins seem to be the best skins released thus far. Not only do we get to see the Overwatch crew in their original uniforms, but we also get to see what characters like Widowmaker, McCree, and Genji looked like when they were with Talon and Blackwatch.

The event is live right now and runs until May 1. That gives you just about three weeks to earn as many Uprising loot boxes as you can. Be sure to stop by the comments section to let us know which of the new skins you like most!
