Note 8 leak: Retail-ready phone revealed

We're inching ever closer to the reveal of the Galaxy Note 8, and as expected, the number of leaks and rumors hitting the internet seems to be on the rise. Today we're getting yet another set of leaked Note 8 photos, and this time around, those photos appear to show off a device that's ready for a retail release. Make no mistake: what we see in these images could be the very same phone that's revealed later this month.

The three images in question were initially posted to MyEverydayTech.com, but in the time since then, the post has been removed. The internet, of course, never forgets, and now that those images are out there, they can continue making the rounds. The photos don't show off anything too extreme – just the front and back of the device, along with the S-Pen that will ship with it.

Fairly standard stuff as leaks go, but there's one important distinction between this and other leaks. In these photos, we see the familiar Samsung always on display, which has graced Samsung's phones since the Galaxy S7. While this could indeed be a prototype, the presence of that always-on display could mean that this is the finished product.

Though it's somewhat hard to tell from the angle and resolution of the images, it looks like the Galaxy Note 8 features the same distinctive curved display of the Galaxy S8. That it does shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as Samsung used the Galaxy S8 to phase out flagship models that used a more standard, flat display.

We're just a little more than two weeks out from the reveal of the Galaxy Note 8. When Samsung holds its Unpacked event on August 23, expect it to pull out all the stops, because with the Galaxy Note 7 still fresh in the minds of consumers, it'll have to impress. SlashGear will be covering the event in its entirety, so stay tuned for more.
