Best Buy sale sees iPad Pro and Samsung flagship price cuts

Best Buy has decided to kick off a surprise 3-day sale, it would appear. The sale started earlier today and features discounts on a variety of different products, from phones and computers to TVs and smart home devices. Though it may not be quite as big as the sales we became used to seeing in the lead up to the holidays, there are still some fairly solid deals to be found.

Galaxy Note 8 gets Thrive app to help users manage their time

Following an announcement a few months back, Samsung has launched the time-management app Thrive for Galaxy Note 8 owners. The app itself comes from Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington's company, and it aims to improve the quality of users' lives by helping them limit how much time is spent using their phone. Among other things, users can stop the majority of inbound notifications with the exception of important things.

Note 8 Android Oreo update spotted in wild: What you need to know

Though Android Oreo has been in beta testing on the Galaxy S8 for a while now, things have been relatively silent on the Note 8 front. Aside from a leaked beta build last month, we haven't heard much about Oreo on the Note 8. That may all change soon if a new post to Reddit is to be believed.

iPhone X OLED burn-in test puts Galaxy Note 8 to shame

Korean website Cetizen recently performed an extreme burn-in test with the iPhone X, comparing Apple's latest and greatest iPhone model to the performance of both the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. The test involved subjecting all three smartphone models (which feature OLED displays, which are notably vulnerable to burn-in) to 510 hours of showing a static image at full brightness. Apple's handset blew both of Samsung's models away.

Pixel 2 XL screen problems VS iPhone 8 Plus, LG V30, Galaxy Note 8

Over the past few days a bit of controversy popped up over the display on the Pixel 2 XL. The most common issue seen in descriptions of the device seems to have to do with the device's coloring and/or texture. Our own review by Chris Davies said that the display on the Pixel 2 XL is "muted and blue-tinged off-axis."

Apple Pencil for iPhone 12 tipped in Korea

Apple Pencil for iPhone 12 tipped in Korea

A new tip on Apple's stylus-laden future has come to light, this time making a play for the next-generation iPhone. We're so extremely far away from the next iPhone right now that I'm taking a total stab in the dark with the name iPhone 12 - it could also be the iPhone Pro, or the iPhone 11 (even though X is 10, and 11 should then come in 2018, and this device is tipped for 2019). The more important point right this minute is the suggestion that the next iPhone might have its own stylus, not unlike the Apple Pencil.

It would seem that Samsung has a hit on its hands in the Galaxy Note 8. Pre-order numbers all around the world were very encouraging, and today, Samsung revealed that the Galaxy Note 8 broke sales records when it went on sale in the UK and Ireland last weekend. Though we don't have specific sales numbers, Samsung does claim that the Note 8 has been the "most successful" launch to date.

Samsung just made the Bixby button even more pointless

Samsung just made the Bixby button even more pointless

Speaking as a Galaxy S8 owner, I have to say that the phone is great, save for one rather annoying feature: the Bixby button. Not only is its usefulness wasted on me - someone who doesn't have much interest in Bixby - but it's also located in one of the most frustrating places. If you find yourself in the same boat, then take heart, because a new update is letting you fix those problems.

Galaxy Note 8 Sale Uber Alles OR Why I’ll wait for iPhone X

Galaxy Note 8 Sale Uber Alles OR Why I’ll wait for iPhone X

Both Samsung and Apple have new smartphones out for sale today, and I've got some opinions about which one I'd choose. If I wanted to pay the smallest amount of money for a top-notch 2017 smartphone (not considering the Google Pixel), I'd have to go with the iPhone 8, which is around $700, on pre-order starting today. If I wanted the most impressive hero phone this year and I needed to order right this minute, I'd choose the Galaxy Note 8.
