Nokia N82 prototype boasts Xenon flash, HSDPA, GPS and much more

Despite being left out of the Android fun & games, Nokia seem to be doing alright for themselves; over at Symbian-Freak they've been playing with a prototype of the upcoming N82, the latest in the Finnish company's high-end cameraphone range.  It should be enough to cause ructions over in the LG Viewty camp, too, with 5-megapixel Carl Zeiss optics, xenon flash and autofocus.

WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, HSDPA, quadband GSM and USB round out the connectivity options, plus a MicroSD slot (that's compatible with the new breed of SDHC cards such as Sandisk's 8GB model) to boost the 109MB internal storage.  The same GPS from the N95 seems to have been carried over, as does the Symbian v9.2, S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 OS together with Nokia's Music Store and the N-Gage gaming.

A first for Nokia, there's automatic screen rotation (such as found on the iPhone, but without the fancy animation) that works throughout the OS rather than simply when taking photos or viewing video.  There's also the new NaviWheel for scrolling, though sadly the prototype's body is chromed plastic rather than authentic metal.

Teo over at Symbian-Freak is busy answering questions in their forum, and there's plenty more detail and photos of the handset itself (as well as images it has taken) to be explored.
