New Shiny Pokemon GO update and boost details

Today we're looking at the next Pokemon GO update with new Shiny Pokemon added to the game this week. There are 2 big events popping up immediately or soon, one here near the end of the month, the other an extended set of events that'll run through the entire month of September. These events begin with new Shiny Pokemon: Shiny Carvanha and Shiny Barboach.

As it was with previous Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO, you'll only be able to find the most basic versions of each Shiny Pokemon in the wild. To find a Shiny Sharpedo, you'll need to find a Shiny Carvanha and enough Carvanha candy to evolve that fish into a beast! These Pokemon will be available through the rest of the week.

The event began on August 23 and will run until the end on August 30, 2019. During this event you'll also find Shiny Barboach out in the wild in greater numbers than it'll ever be available (shiny style) ever again. That Pokemon can be evolved into Shiny Whiscash – and that's the only way you'll ever find that Shiny Whiscash, too – evolution!

NOTE: These Pokemon will appear in eggs and in the wild at higher rates than they've ever appeared before (especially since they've never been Shiny before) or will likely ever be again. Much like at least a couple Shiny releases before, the first week in which a Shiny Pokemon is released into Pokemon GO, it's just a BIT easier to find than any other Shiny Pokemon in the game. This Water Festival in Pokemon GO will include the increased likelihood that you'll find a whole bunch of other Water Pokemon including Squirtle, Poliwhirl, Seaking, Lapras, Quilfish, Mantine, Lotad, Feebas, Piplup, Buizel, and Finneon. Some of these Pokemon will appear near the water as always, others will appear anywhere in the world – where they'd normally never appear!

On August 28, 2019, the Legendary Lake Trio will appear in Pokemon Gym Raid Battles as Raid Bosses. It's not confirmed, but POSSIBLE, that these Pokemon may end up being Shiny when defeated. We'll be seeing a whole BUNCH of extra Shiny Pokemon in the month of September during the Ultra Bonus Week event series.

All of this culminates starting September 16, 2019, when Niantic will begin their release of the next generation! That'll be a week called "A Unova Unveiling!" It'll include Shiny Patrat (and its evolved version Watchog), Shiny Lillipup (and Herdier and Soutland), and Shiny Klink (and Klang, and Kinklang)!
