New black Sonos S5 is better at lurking in the shadows

The Sonos S5 has been given a makeover, with the company pushing out a new, black version of the all-in-one music system.  Priced at the same $399 as its white counterpart, the Sonos S5 has the same five integrated speakers – each with their own digital amp – and can be controlled via either Sonos' own special remotes or the company's iPhone and iPod touch app.

The new color version follows on from Sonos' recent software upgrade for the S5, which allows two of the units to be paired up as stereo speakers.  While the company still expects most people to use a single S5 as their main source of audio for a room, the ability to couple two up (using one for the left audio channel and the other for the right) is billed as useful for parties and other times you'd want more impressive sound.
