Marvel confirms Deadpool movie for 2016

Marvel has confirmed that a Deadpool movie will be arriving in theaters in 2016, something that follows a screen test that surfaced back in July. According to Marvel, Tim Miller will be directing the movie, and rumor has it that Ryan Reynolds will be starring.

Unfortunately, Marvel has been light on the details at this point, and we don't know too much. The movie will hit theaters on February 12, 2016, and it is joined by news that the movie adaption of Assassin's Creed has pulled from its slot next summer.

The news, while exciting, isn't terribly surprising. Fans have been awaiting a Deadpool spinoff for years, and the recently leaked footage only served to stoke those hopes. Ryan Reynolds played Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, for those unfamiliar.

There's no other information about the movie at this time, but details on other movies' release dates were dropped. It seems the Fantastic Four reboot will be bumped ahead to an August 7 release date next year, a date that proved kind to Guardians of the Galaxy this year.
