In an announcement that, since we knew it was coming, will surprise nobody, Lenovo are revealing their latest line-up of Santa Rosa X-series laptops and Tablet PCs. The X61, X61s and X61 Tablet will be the flagship trio of Lenovo’s ultraportable range, with WWAN cellular connectivity, WiFi ‘n’, Bluetooth and gigabit ethernet all available on different models.
Eight-cell batteries with an optional extended battery pack add up to a massive 12 hours from one charge for the X61s, while the X61 and X61 Tablet manage 11 and 10 hours respectively. Lenovo have also added a setting to eke out the last drips from the cells when you’ve that all important email to finish; it selectively shuts off unused features of the notebook, reducing overall power drain.
The X61 Tablet has a new SuperView SXGA+ screen, coated with a special scratch-resistant and anti-reflective layer which makes it extra usable outdoors. MultiView and MultiTouch remain options.
The ThinkPad X61, X61s and X61 Tablet PC start at approximately, $1,484, $1,474 and $1,779 respectively.
