iPhone 4 headed to Tesco Mobile too
Tesco Mobile have become the latest UK carrier to announce they will be offering the iPhone 4, though they've stopped short of confirming pricing for the Apple handset. At present, would-be buyers can sign up for more information from Tesco Mobile; the iPhone 4 is set to debut on June 24th, though preorders for the 16GB and 32GB black versions of the handset began earlier today through Apple's own online store.
Apple's iPhone is provided unlocked and SIM-free, a marked contrast from previous releases – which were carrier locked and only sold with a new agreement – and a significant change of direction for the company. That seems to have heralded a new age of broad availability, in the UK at least, with O2, Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Tesco Mobile all among the carriers offering the coveted handset. In the US, however, the iPhone 4 is locked to AT&T and not available on any other network.
