Huawei's Galaxy Note-like Mate 10 Pro tipped Verizon-bound

This morning it's been reported that Verizon may be the new home to the international smartphone brand Huawei. No, one isn't acquiring the other – but this may be the first time Huawei's come forward with some real competition for both the Samsung Galaxy series and the iPhone. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a massive smartphone with a unique look and both hardware and software to back up its claim to glory.

A tip from ETNews suggests that the Huawei plan as of this week was to bring the Huawei Mate 10 Pro to both Verizon and AT&T. If true, this would provide much-needed shelf space to the brand that's already all but swallowed China whole with its high-quality, relatively-low-priced hardware. The potential is massive for this brand sitting right beside the most popular smartphones with the two biggest carriers in the United States.

This report comes from ET News, who report that Huawei is currently in negotiations with Verizon to make them an official carrier of their newest smartphone. This might well indicate that the brand has already secured a spot with AT&T, as previous rumors have pointed directly at just such a situation.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro has a 5.9-inch 1440 x 2560 pixel IPS LCD display with very tiny bezels above and below, and nearly no bezels to the left and to the right. Both the front and the back of this device are covered with reinforced glass panels from Corning. This device has a Hisilicon Kirin 970 chipset inside with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and a micro SD card slot capable of carrying 256GB of additional storage.

This smartphone has a pair of cameras at its back. One of these cameras comes with a 12MP sensor (f/1.6, 27mm, OIS), and the other has a 20MP sensor with (f/1.6, 27mm). Together, this system has 2x lossless zoom, Leica optics, phase detection & laser autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash.

This device is available for sale at slightly higher prices than we'd expect once it reaches US carriers officially. Users can purchase the Mate 10 Pro for around $800 USD through eBay, eGlobal Central, and AliExpress. Meanwhile Best Buy has last year's Huawei Mate 9 available for around $400.
