HP Mini 5101 netbooks on sale now from $399

HP's sturdy, business-friendly Mini 5101 netbooks have gone on sale, priced from $399.  Two models are available, the VJ907AA and the FM955UT, each with Intel's Atom N280 1.66GHz processor, a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 display and 1GB of RAM.

Curiously, in fact, the specifications listed for both netbooks are exactly the same, so we're at a loss as to why the VJ907AA is $125 more than the FM955UT.  Each has a 160GB hard-drive, GMA 950 graphics and a 2-megapixel webcam, while ports include three USB 2.0, VGA, audio in/out and ethernet, plus an SD card slot.

Networking includes gigabit ethernet, WiFi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.0, the latter of which was initially said to be an option.  The 4-cell battery is apparently good for up to 4.5hrs use, and the OS is Windows XP Home.  We're expecting HP to correct the listings and hopefully differentiate between the two models soon.
