HP Compaq Mini 700 Gets OS X With Working WiFi & Webcam: Video Demo
While seeing OS X running on various traditionally Linux or Windows netbooks is nothing new, there's still a frisson of pleasure to be had from a new machine getting its unofficial Apple stripes. When said-new-machine is the HP Compaq Mini 700, the Euro version of the HP Mini 1000 and a particularly desirable and impressive machine in its own right, that gets all the more interesting.Video demo of the OS X HP Mini 700 after the cut
The hack is the handiwork of Italian Mini 700 owner Paolo, who gives little explanation and instead concentrates on demonstrating his new DIY Mac netbook. Currently both the WiFi and webcam are operational in OS X Leopard 10.5.5, but the audio and sleep modes – common stumbling blocks in these projects – are not.
Previously we've seen OS X tweaked into running on Gigabyte's M912X and other netbooks. However perhaps the most popular model for the hack is the MSI Wind, which has recently received updated WiFi drivers making installing OS X even more straightforward.
